The Oakwood Mitigation Bank is a newly restored 15-acre site developed through a partnership between the MiWB and the Road Commission for Oakland County.
Designed by Niswander Environmental, the site restores a long-degraded wetland in the Clinton River Banking Watershed and Ann Arbor Moraines Ecoregion—an area with few mitigation options. By removing surface drainage and constructing low berms, the project reestablished natural wetland conditions, improving water quality, enhancing habitat and reducing downstream flooding.
The Oakwood site addresses key impairments outlined in state and federal watershed management plans and provides valuable mitigation credits for future transportation projects.
