Upper Manistee River Headwaters Site

The Upper Manistee River Headwaters Site is one site of seven separate preservation sites that will provide mitigation credit availability statewide for road agency projects with less than 0.33 acres per wetland complex of impacts as well as required mitigation for Federal no net loss wetland impacts. The separate sites are managed by the local Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy and are in various states of protection to eventually be added to the acreage available for road agency use. The Upper Manistee River Headwaters Site is the first to complete this process and has made available over 40 acres of mitigation credit currently being used statewide on over 30 projects in just a few years.

Requests are reviewed by a steering committee of members from the Paul Bunyan County Council, with authority granted to the MiWB manager for approvals.
